Linux (and Android) Porting and Contract Development
SDG Systems offers development services for mobile solutions. We specialize in Linux device porting, device drivers, Android and QtEmbedded customizations. Our expertise also includes barcode scanning and communication devices. We can also provide development services for a wide range of operating environments. SDG Systems has ported Linux to approximately 10 ARM-based platforms, including the Trimble Recon and Nomad with other platforms coming soon. SDG Systems worked with Sharp Electronics to implement the Sprint 1xRTT Modem Manager. We also worked with Socket Communications to develop drivers for the Socket In-Hand Scan Card. "SDG ported Linux onto the TDS Recon an impressively short amount of time. On our side we were quite concerned that we'd be signing up for an extensive amount of support. Our fear was that our unusual hardware would be so far off the beaten track that the Linux port would be a big challenge and our team would end up distracted by a stream of questions from SDG. Also a concern was the treatment of our intellectual property. A few of us whipped up a documentation package in a few days as a guide to the system hardware and our tools for building/loading software images onto the Recon. Subsequent to the documentation there were a few, well considered questions and reports of efficient and rapid progress towards the running of Linux. SDG was quite attentive to protecting those parts of our design that we didn't want exposed. As we made extensive modifications to the base design, SDG was able to capitalize on our new features without burdening our R&D with many queries.
