Trimble Yuma 2
The Trimble Yuma 2 is an ultra-rugged water- and dust-proof field computer featuring the Microsoft® Windows 7 Professional or Ubuntu 12.04 LTS operating systems. It has a 1.6 Ghz Intel Atom dual-core processor, 4 GB of DDR3 DRAM, a 64 GB solid state drive (SSD) and a dual battery with eight hours of typical run-time. Optional features include a 128 GB SSD, 3.75G cellular data connectivity and an Extended Battery Set that provides up to 16 hours of operation.
The Yuma 2 is now available with a 1-2 meter real time Enhanced GPS positional accuracy using SBAS satellites.
Featuring a new display technology for clear readability even in direct sunlight, the Yuma 2 can be used by workers in the brightest outdoor conditions. For indoor use, the Yuma 2 has an available desktop dock.
As with other Trimble rugged mobile computers, the Yuma 2 is fully ruggedized and meets stringent MIL-STD-810G military standards for drops, vibration and humidity and is rated IP65 for protection against dust and water.
Only an inch and a half deep, the Yuma 2 offers a 7 inch capacitive multi-touch screen in a easy-to-hold form factor that measures 6.3 inches x 9.6 inches, and weighs only 2.6 pounds.
The 3.75G dual-mode cellular data connectivity enables productivity solutions anywhere GSM or CDMA cellular networks are available.
For security, the Yuma 2 has an integrated, certified Trusted Processing Module (TPM). The TPM is an encryption module to provide secure transmission of data for WiFi and direct-connect authentication. For physical lock-down, the Yuma 2 provides a Kensington security port.
An optional Extended Battery Set provides up to 16 hours of operation.

SDG Systems is the exclusive distributor of GNU/Linux on the Yuma 2, currently running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (contact us for other Linux distribution options). Linux on the Yuma 2 has some distinct advantages:
- Flexible - Linux offers a variety of free office (LibreOffice, GNU office) and productivity tools, programming environments, and the ability to configure the OS as needed for a project.
- Secure - Linux offers GNU Privacy Guard (GnuPG or GPG), Open Secure Shell (OpenSSH), and supports a variety of VPNs and other encryption software. Linux is significantly less subject to malware attacks than other operating systems.
- Maintainable - Linux makes better use of hardware resources (uses less RAM and disk space), and performance won’t degrade over time. Standard tools like SSH allow secure remote access for troubleshooting problems.
